Class: Esplanade Sweater Knit Along with Designer Sandi Rosner
Instructor: Sandi Rosner
Dates: Sept. 14 & 28 and Oct. 12 and 26, 10:00 am-12:00pm
Prerequisites: Must know how to cast on, knit, purl, and accomplish basic increases and decreases.
About this class:
Esplanade is a fun, flattering, and very wearable sweater with an unusual combination of stripes and color blocking designed by Sandi Rosner.
While making this sweater, you'll learn how to work with a provisional cast on, and use mirrored increases and decreases. You'll also have the opportunity to practice and perfect your seaming technique.
The KAL is planned with 2 weeks between each class meeting, so you'll have lots of time to make progress on your sweater.
Materials - Materials for class are available for purchase at Cheers To Ewe! and are not included in the price of this class. All materials purchased for classes are 10% off for students enrolled in the class. There is HOMEWORK for this class: Make a Stockinette stitch gauge swatch no less than 5" square using your chosen yarn and needles. Wash and block your swatch in the same way you intend to wash and block your finished sweater.
Here's what you'll need for this class:
- Yarn in 2 colors: The original sample was made with HiKoo Sueno, a lovely wool/viscose blend which is in stock at Cheers To Ewe. The shop is also full of great alternatives! If you want something less wooly, many cotton blends would work beautifully in Esplanade. You'll need a yarn that gives you a gauge of 5 sts = 1" in Stockinette st.
- You'll also need knitting needles in the size that gives you the correct gauge, a couple of yards of smooth waste yarn, a crochet hook in a size similar to your knitting needles, a stitch marker, and a tapestry needle.
Please bring your notion bag to classes.
PATTERN is available as an in-store purchase via Ravelry at Cheers To Ewe! Please bring your notions bag to every class. Please DO NOT begin working through the pattern for this project before class unless class homework has been included in the class description or is sent out by the teacher before class. Teachers often incorporate foundational techniques and lessons in the beginning stages of class, and you will not be able to take advantage of that learning if you jump ahead.
