Prerequisites: Intermediate knitter. Must know cast on, knit, purl, bind off, knitting in the round, some sock knitting experience is preferred.
About this class:
Join us as we knit Heather’s May Day Flowers Socks! These feminine socks feature a dainty picot cuff top and a flowery lace that travels down onto the foot. They are knit cuff down and use German short row heels and toes. The pattern provides a smaller child size as well as an adult size.
Sizes: 6-7/8-9” foot circumference.
Skills student will learn: Picot cast on, reading lace charts, German short rows (heels and toes), Kitchener stitch.
Note: We will go over reading lace charts in class, but the pattern includes both charts and written directions for the lace, so even if you are averse to charts I’ve got you covered!

Here's what you'll need for this class:
- Fingering weight Sock yarn – about 400 yards or more, depending on the size of your feet.
- Needles: Size 0, or size needed for gauge. Dpns or two circulars or one long circular, depending on your preferred sock-knitting style.
- Basic notions: tapestry needle, scissors, stitch markers.
HOMEWORK NOTE: Ideally, a gauge swatch should be worked in advance. The pattern gauge in stockinette is 36 sts and 50 rows over 4”. For best results, please work and block your swatch before the first class session. Thank you!
